Nuova gestione da pochi mesi e lo si nota sia dalla location che dalla perfetta gestione del personale. Ottima cucina con sapori della tradizione e serviti in chiave moderna. Non pensavamo di trovare in questa zona a pochi passi dal mare una cucina del genere. Siamo stati anche lo scorso anno ma la nuova gestione 2022 è totalmente di livello superiore. We had Ravioli with Ricotta and the Stake cooked on a Oak tree with mashrooms and ricotta. We were olso offeree fried flowers of pumpkin, and a platter of local cheese with local honey. Really excellent food fusing local and international flavours. Ideal for those who want to eat to a high standard without compromising of the local experience.
This was recommended by the Italian neighbour of villa where we were staying. Excellent food and typical of region. Only problem was language but we went with his suggestion for starter and understood tagliatelle and gnocchi! Wonderful. Reasonable prices. Ring ahead for opening hours.
My husband and I were lucky enough to visit Ristorante Al Caminetto with our friend who is from Tortora. When we sat down we were treated like family immediately. Our friend introduced us to the owner and his wife. Apparently his wife does the cooking and she is a marvel! We were treated to big plates of appetizers which included many of the traditional Calabrian specialties. I did not catch all of the names but there was a variety of some of the lightest and most delicately crafted appetizers I had ever tasted. I do know that one of them was asparagus tips fried in an impossibly light batter. I was completely addicted to them! I ate way too many! Additionally there were platters of Calabrian cured sausages and meat which were fresh and delicious. the main courses were home made pasta dishes including an amazing cheese ravioli made with the lightest and freshest ricotta imaginable. The next dish was home made fusilli with wild boar in a light but rich tomato sauce. It was out of this world. This restaurant is located in the beautiful village of Tortora in the hills in Southern Italy. Most Americans never go South of Naples and they are missing out. If you take a trip to Southern Italy, make the trip to Tortora. It is a beautiful drive and the village is spectacular. The people there are warm and friendly and honestly we had one of the best experiences in our lives that day.
