Estaminet De L'hermitage - Tortequesne

The little estaminet opposite the Wilfred Owen forest house revealed itself to be a wonderful lunch stop. The food was sublime...the plat du jour was excellent value and the service was friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend the creme brulee; make sure you take your time and enjoy this delightful place. As the saying on the wall suggests “in an estaminet, you are eating in our home”.

This spot took me back a few years to really authentic French cuisine where you chose a menu du jour and the cooking was done French. It is very close and convenient to the Wilfred Owen memorial (well worth a visit the service was so friendly even though the woman running it did not speak any English (why would she? . There are a few seats outside and plenty in it is a husband and wife team and should be commended.

Food was superb, chef chatted to us, cosy interior, relaxed and comfortabe, near the Wilfrid Owen memorial.

Hey! Nice surprise for us this noon. We're very difficult old restaurants. Most importantly, sir, and we've been celebrating! the card is simple, all the products are fresh and cooked at home, even the pepits made with real chicken nets. Moreover, the reception is very friendly as much by the lady as the gentleman who offers a quality service. Finally, the property is very well maintained, located in a small corner of paradise on the edge of the moral forest. We'll be back soon!
