La Ponderosa - Torremolinos

Quite unexpected, the food was fabulous. We were delighted to find Salmorejo on the menu, we should have shared one. They were very generous delicious portions. My partner had Gambas pil pil I had the lamb chops. Definitely the best I have ever eaten. I chose the mixed veg as a side, they didn’t look much, again they were so tasty, masses of them that I didn’t think I would finish, they were much to nice to waste. I finished with a home made crème caramel. It was just how I expected it to be, exquisite. I couldn’t fault the Ponderosa. We will be back.

An excellent find. Each time we went we had the Tapas. So tasty, thank-you. Staff were so friendly.

We have been to this restaurant a few times, simply because it is convenient for an elderly friend and she loves it. However, we will not be going again. True we went on a national holiday and it was packed but even so, the service was atrocious. We waited over an hour between the first and second course. My partners' omelette was so full of garlic he left half of it. Our friend was served fish with.............nothing. No veg., no salad. Apologies were profuse but that's not good enough. I was in the catering business for nearly 30 years. If you can't handle a large number of customers, then reduce the number of tables. Disgraceful for an establishment which has been there for a long time and should have got its act together. On the plus side, the menu of the day is good value but don't go there on a weekend or holiday unless you have the patience of a saint and the whole afternoon to waste.
