Saffron Cafe on George - Torquay

Love the friendly, funky atmosphere here. came in the late afternoon, not many choices to lunch, but the helpful waitress hit the vegetarian layer with salat. I was amazed to get a very tasty multi-layered cake with tons sweet potato, delicious! also the great book collection, which is available for buchswap, most impressive. coffee was excellent . I come back with a friend to check other selections. think fez could become a popular hangout for me.

A small seated cafe on the waterfront of Torquay. Good coffee and the mains were generous sizes and very tasty indeed (we ordered the lamb with cous cous). Main's you can expect to pay around $20 or so. Lunch for 2 with a coffee came in at around $55 so its not a cafe that you'd eat at every day. If you have a bad back this might not be the cafe for you, seating is on stools inside, though the outdoor seating does have some backs on them. I've been here a few times now and it always busy so try and miss the peak times as you might not get a seat. One thing I will say though i they are busy you might wait a little time to order so be sure to speak up and capture the waitress's eye early.

I am a local and have been a regular at Pond in Torquay. On Saturday 29 July, the experience was very poor. Our coffee's order got lost and after 15 min we had to reorder. We were told that they were too busy to make scrambled eggs. I ordered to Pulled Pork Benny. Well it arrived cold. Very disappointing considering this has always been my go to place. Looks like we might be parting ways.

The coffee was exceptional in this place. They use 7 seeds coffee beans and an experienced barista made for a good experience.

I visited Pond while in Torquay with friends during a yoga workshop. We decided to have brunch here after a recommendation from a shop owner nearby.It was a quick walk from where we were staying and the food sounded delicious. We walked into a busy but warm cafe and luckily found a table for 3. We all decided to try something from the all day lunch menu. My friend had a beef brisket sandwich with an amazing Mayo and I had Lamb shoulder with pearl couscous, puree of carrot (I think) roast turnip, pickled sweede and a pesto. The Lamb was melt in your mouth delicious along with everything else on my plate. And there was plenty to love. I was so full after finishing everything on my plate, and I wasn't the only one.We ate here again for breakfast on our last day. My friends had the beef brisket again and I had a big breakfast. They also make delicious fresh juices and the coffee is great. Staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. I wouldn't miss it if in Torquay.
