I popped into True True for a snack and a glass of wine last night while I was waiting for my wife to return from work. The ambiance is lovely, soft lighting with good music (not too loud), comfy seats and a good layout. The service was quick and friendly. And the Mushroom Flatbread I had for a snack was delicious one of the best I've tasted. But it was 19!! And it was small a tapas type shareable dish. The wine was nice between 12 and 15 dollars a glass but they didn't have Pinot Grigio which means my wife won't be able to come back (that's all she likes). My bill, for one small flatbread and two glasses of wine, came to over 60, which is pricey. I imagine a full meal here with a couple of drinks would add up very quickly and would rival some of Toronto's more high end restaurants. I'm guessing the rents are high in this part of town but the location is not in any of Toronto's high end restaurant rows so the pricing seems a little out of whack. Overall Great spot, great food and great service but a little too much
The atmosphere was warm and homey. The chef Suzanne Barr, came into the dining area and greeted several of her diners. A very nice touch. The food was delicious and the ingredients were fresh and locally sourced.
As a write this review, the restaurant is most likely shut down for a month for renovations. When we stopped in last week they told us they had run out of a bunch of ingredients so we ordered what was available. Pizza is my one of my favorite item to order when i indicisious as to what to eat. We were pleasently surprised . Service was quick.
This is not your usual dime a dozen pizza spot. Excellent gourmet pizzas, in a variety of intriguing set varieties or you can build your own. Very fast service on the thin (if not super crispy crusts, with lots of options. Have tried several, all delicious. (Maybe a touch heavy on the salt... . Service is friendly. Bonus: you can have a beer or glass of wine, if you’re so inclined.
