Contribuiți la feedbackWhen considering a steak dinner, the first thing that may come to mind is the association with luxury or high cost, depending on personal perspective and socio-economic status. This is understandable, as meat is a valuable commodity and steaks are typically made from the most prime cuts of meat. In upscale restaurants, the prices are often elevated to match the luxurious atmosphere - chandeliers illuminate the dining area, candlelight adds to the ambiance, live orchestral music accompanies the meal, guests don ornate masks, and waitstaff are dressed impeccably. Such establishments cater to an elite, wealthy clientele, creating an atmosphere that may appeal to exclusive social circles.
This steakhouse has a classic diner vibe. The restaurant is not crowded and the servers are attentive. The portions are large and reasonably priced. It's a perfect spot for a casual meal, date, or meeting up with friends. The decor gives off a nostalgic, old-school restaurant atmosphere. I will definitely be returning.
The Tulip, as most describe it, is a no-frills diner that serves up various cuts of steaks and other classic diner menu items. The atmosphere at The Tulip is outdated, appearing the same as it did over ten years ago. However, the food was good with generous portions that provided good value for the money. The proteins were definitely the highlight of the meals. The mashed potatoes had a glue-like consistency and the home fries were typical diner fare. A meal for two with salads, entrees, and desserts was $68, which is not bad considering one of the entrees was a 24oz porterhouse steak. The service was excellent, with attentive servers in a not very busy environment. If you're looking for a cheap steak fix in the east end, The Tulip is worth a try.
You want a hearty filling traditional no frills breakfast? Look no further. Restaurants have come and gone but this Leslieville landmark has stuck around since 1929 for a reason. Don't go in thinking you are going to be doing some fine dining. This place is a diner. And proud of it. For me, it's a breakfast or brunch must do. I haven't been for dinner but I'm willing to bet the steaks and pork chops are super yummy.<br/ <br/ Usually there is a bit of a line up for breakfast but this morning, it was all clear and we got a window seat! I noticed that they've got booths now in the front area which is a nice addition. Our waiter was quick to the table to take our orders and back again with beverages before we knew it. You know how sometimes you are in the middle of talking with your buds and you suddenly realize that it's been way too long and where the hell is your food? Not here. The food showed up before we ever starting thinking about how long it was gonna be before it got there. Yay! Poached eggs were done properly and back bacon looked juicy and not overdone. I ordered the chopped sirloin (my favourite so I always skip over the 6oz and go for the 9oz) and eggs. It comes with a generous portion of home fries along with a side of toast and will run you about $12 (under $10 for the 6oz version). We could have done with a coffee re-fill sooner than it happened but once the wait staff noticed, the refills kept a comin'.<br/ <br/ Most people opt for the Tulip Big Breakfast and I get why. 3 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 bacon strips, 2 pieces of peameal bacon, 2 buttermilk pancakes, home fries and toast for under $10! Insane! <br/ <br/ The place is cozy and sunny, the food is satisfying and tasty and the service is spot on. What more could you ask for on a Saturday morning when you are feeling a smidge hungover ? Nothin' I tells ya. Nothin'.
Friendly service great food. We bought a coupon deal and enjoyed our food very much.<br/ <br/ The 'Garlic Shrimp ' appetizer is awesome, lots of cheese and very tasty. My husband said he wished he could substitute his main course for more garlic shrimp lol.<br/ <br/ He had 'Beef Tenderloin 8oz. ' and thought that felt like 10 oz. I had 'Baked Filet of Salmon (8oz) ', average, not too impressed.<br/ <br/ The waitress is very friendly and funny. The deal we bought includes two wines. We didn 't really want any wine so she let us order other beverage instead. So we had a beer and a hot chocolate. For dessert, we had banana pudding and apple crumble dessert. Liked very much.
