Contribuiți la feedbackWe visited as a group of 6 and ordered a whole range of different meals. They were universally excellent. The lomo saltado was delicious as were the camarones. We also had pisco sours which were pretty great. Our waiter, who I imagine is the owner was friendly, attentive and funny. The poor reviews of this place are a shock as we thoroughly enjoyed and would heartily recommend.
We visited the Boulevard Cafe for dinner. This was an excellent experience for us as a couple ! The food was exceptional and the ingredients were fresh and carefully selected.I had the special mussels and shrimp dish which was to die for! Highly recommend this authentic yet progressive place! We even met the owner, Lirio, who has had the place for 38 years.
We had a friend that had been here previously and recommended it, however after seeing the recent reviews we were nervous. We were there right at opening at 5:30 and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Our friends had been to Peru and said the food here was the same and just as good. There were several daily specials. Our group had the bass and shrimp cervecie, soup and casadea all excellent.for the main course we had the shredded chicken, the shrimp and the lamb, chicken and sausage medallions, all of them were very good. There were previous comments re the service, we had the female owner and a young girl serve us and the were both great. Now to top off the meal we had a selection of the desserts, all homemade. The key lime pie, pecan pie, chocolate cheese cake and the sour apple pie, again all excellent. We would definitely return. I am not sure what has happened with several of the previous reviewers, maybe there is inconsistency re the food and service, again we would say that we never had any issues.
I was taking my friend out for her birthday, she suggested it was amazing! The food was not good, everything was too salty, and the salt we thought was intoxicated! The place items was very cute, loved the decor too bad the food wasn't on par and it was definitely NOT worth the money.
I had a day visit in Toronto from upstate NY. My trip was centered on having cuisines that I really like that are not available in my area....so I was really looking forward to a full day of delightful dining. I visit Toronto several times a year just for this purpose. I love Peruvian cuisine as I winter in Sarasota where there are numerous excellent authentic establishments. I had planned other cuisines in Toronto for breakfast and dinner and this was the only Peruvian establishment downtown open for lunch,Reviews for The Boulevard were hit or miss, I examined the menus on line, which were sadly lacking in both number and dishes to truly represent Peruvian cooking but saw in the background a long "daily special" and assumed this would be where the focus must be. I was wrong. I made a reservation for lunch on a Thursday. The place was almost empty. A couple was seated outside and a man was waiting when I arrived. A lady, who I presumed was the hostess, nonchalantly approached and seated the man waiting and me at the same time. The specials on a black board turned out to be the daily soup, a fish ceviche, grilled tilapia, and one other item. The regular menu was as I said, disappointedly small and uninspiring. The lady came and took our order. She seemed to be disinterested or on valium. I ordered the soup of the day (squash and corn), the ceviche and one of the items on the menu, a grilled calamari salad. I was matter-of-factly informed..."we do not have the calamari today." With so few items on the menu, how can it be out of squid...I had just left St. Lawrence Market strewn with fresh squid at all the fish counters...but the Boulevard was out? After ordering, the lady went to the other room and sat and looked at her tablet computer until my food arrived. She delivered my order and then went back to her computer and had her lunch there as well. I did not see her at my table again. After finishing some time later, I went out where she had been sitting. and inquired if I could pay my bill. A young lady was there and I asked if the lady was the owner, and was told yes. The lady then came out and informed me that their system was not working and I would need to pay in cash. Or I could go to an ATM and bring it back if I do not have any. I had the cash (American) but why was I not informed of this upon seating or at least offered a "we are sorry if this inconveniences you" ?So....limited menu, unavailable menu selections, inattentive service, unapologetic behavior, and complacent ownership. I understand why the restaurant was empty and the poor reviews. As to the food, the soup was very good, the ceviche was average quality and taste for Peruvian (why did they not have mixto or shrimp also), and the salad I did order was mediocre.
