Contribuiți la feedbackWhen I first moved to this neighbourhood (I live a few blocks from this restaurant), this was my go-to place. That was 5 years ago. The food was fresh, delicious, and used coconut milk for all the curries. Now, the restaurant has expanded to have 3 branches (that's not even counting all the other restaurants owned by the same family) and I believe the original chef no longer cooks at this location. The difference is obvious in the flavours ... and, being lactose intolerant, I hate that they now use a lot of milk and/or cream in the curries. The khao so beef (my absolute favourite dish here) used to be a rich stew with lovely sturdy chunks of beef - now, it's still chunks of beef, but very stringy beef, not as good quality, and the flavour is hit or miss, sometimes too watery, and sometimes decent. The service, too, is hit or miss. This particular location is tiny, and yet can be understaffed for when it's full - it really is frustrating to watch the waiters ignore you as they attend to others and carefully avoid meeting your eyes when all you want is some chill oil! Oh, the chili oil is FABULOUS!Bottom line, I'm looking for a good Thai restaurant again.
So you know a restaurant is good when it's always busy and that's SukoThai . Always busy no matter what day you go , no matter what time. I love everything on the menu but my favourite is their in house hot chill oil. It can get a tiny bit loud but not not uncomfortable. The prices are reasonable and the friendly staff.
Based on online recommendations I checked it out. Sure enough per reviews I had to wait 20 minutes for a table for dinner, small place. A wait worth it. Decent prices and delicious pad Thai with beef that I had. Generous portions. I saw an endless stream of Uber Eats type vendors coming in to obtain orders for at home customers. One beer and the pad Thai cost me $20, before tax and gratuity. I talked with folks waiting in line, they told me to wait, it was worth it. Explore the funky neighborhood on Parliament Street.
I had their fish. It was basa fillets, and it was battered in a japanese panko style batter. It was served rice and with a sweet spicy sauce on the side, and was out of this world.
Firstly I must say the food was good I did like the tum yum soup. however the customer service was a disgrace. The waiter who served us had no patience, even caught him rolling his eyes at me when I asked him to explain something that was on the menu. I would have liked to return to this place. but I don't think I will. if I wanted attitude and other teenage behaviours with my food I would have gone to McDonald's thanks Ps- if you are a wheel chair user or need support in walking do not go here. It is not accessible and the washrooms are in the basement which require you to go down some crooked long steep stairs to get to them.
