We have been looking for the best shawarma place in Toronto for the last 18 months. I wish I had found this place earlier! You can tell it's going to be good by looking at the quality of the meat on the skewer. Look no further for your shawarma dose.
I recently discovered Red Castle in Greek Town and I am very happy about it. I have stopped in twice this week for their chicken shawarma sandwiches and I have to say, it impressed me. Firstly, the price is great - they sell 2 sandwiches for $10.99, which is unheard of. The size of the pita and the quality of the fillings are also excellent. Secondly, the ingredients are fresh, plentiful, and topped with herbs and spices. Not many shawarma places go the extra mile to keep their cold station prepped and fully seasoned. There is no skimping on herbs here. Furthermore, their full menu includes authentic Moroccan and Lebanese food like lamb tagine. I will definitely be going back to try out more dishes. Finally, the convenience and hours of operation are fantastic. This place opens for lunch and stays open until 3am. They offer good seating in a casual environment and fast takeout. When you combine everything, you get great value and amazing food. I highly recommend giving Red Castle a try!
I had lunch at this restaurant with a colleague based on the recommendation of a few people whose opinions I sometimes question. However, I'm glad I decided to give it a try. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. I ordered the mixed shawarma with a side salad, and the meat was flavorful. The beef was slightly dry, but still tasty. My colleague tried the burger special and was very impressed. The burger was large and the price was reasonable. The restaurant itself was clean and inviting. I would recommend this place for delicious shawarma on the Danforth. Perhaps I should trust those 'suspect' opinions more often!
We visited this restaurant twice. The first time, the food was fantastic and delicious, but the service was incredibly slow. Waiting over 30 minutes for a sandwich was frustrating. However, we decided to give it another chance because the food was just that good. Thankfully, the second time we went, the cook was a very kind lady who not only prepared the food but also took care of the orders and served as a waitress. She was much quicker and friendlier than the previous server, who seemed rather grumpy, especially towards the young boy who was assisting and handling the register.
