Patrician Grill - Toronto

This is one of my favourite restaurants in the world. Everything a classic diner ought to be. But order the Hollywood sandwich: chicken salad with crisp bacon, lettuce and tomato. Excellent coffee. You're welcome.

I always enjoy finding small, traditional diners like this during my travels, and I was not disappointed during our breakfast visit. This place was closed last September when we were in Toronto, so it was a top priority for this trip. I love the atmosphere of places like this, where you can sit in a booth or at the counter and watch your food being prepared on the other side. The retro vibe of the place, with servers calling out orders to the cook, makes it feel like it's straight out of the 60's. The breakfast food was delicious, which only added to the experience. I highly recommend checking this place out - I will definitely be returning.

Beware, this restaurant only accepts cash! It is a popular spot in the community for breakfast and lunch, especially busy on weekends. They do not take reservations, so it is walk-ins only. The seating mostly consists of booths (limited to 4 people) with some old-fashioned stools at the bar/counter. The owner/manager is very friendly and talkative, always eager to chat with customers. The breakfast menu offers standard options, with no surprises. I recommend trying the Number Two, which comes with eggs, breakfast meats, home fries, and toast. Their diner coffee is the best around. Overall, this is our favorite spot for breakfast.

This place is simply the best, and if you have a taste for diners, you gotta go. Totally old school, the chopped steak with gravy and mash is to die for. My favorite is the Hollywood sandwich, chicken salad with crisp bacon, lettuce and tomato. There's only one damn kind of coffee: it's the coffee. And pretty good, too. Try the apple pie ice cream.

We went on a Monday while initially we had planned to have lunch at the market (closed on that day) The place is an old fashioned diner. The food was good so was the music playing. The staff is very nice.
