Contribuiți la feedbackNice place with convenient nearby public parking at a decent price. You could see everyone hurrying to pay for extra time after 6:00 PM. Excellent food (from the appetizers to the dessert). The servers were very nice, my only complaint is they didn't know the hors d'œuvres' names. Although the rice ball (with some sauce) didn't impress me, there was tempura shrimp, delicious squid (or octopus) in a cup and something that seemed like mini gyros. With live music and Greek dancing, who could ask for anything more? Overall a great evening/night!
We had our wedding at The Forth and it went off without a hitch. Between John, Ana and Wellington we were treated like royalty. The food was delicious, filet steak you could cut with a butter knife. Everything was tasty and cooked to perfection. I would not hesitate to recommend The Forth for your function. Dj George Apostolou Orchestrated the evening with his music. Oh yes we danced.
Paul took Kim here for her 40th birthday. Perfect. He called in advance a couple of days and arranged a 12 course tasting menu and BOY! did The Forth deliver! Every course was delicious and the service was perfect. Oysters and citrus salad, pasta and octopus, pork belly and strip loin, cheese, panacotta and dark chocolate mousse: not a misstep anywhere and points of brilliance throughout. As an extra touch, without having been asked, they printed a menu with a birthday title and the chef and pastry chef both signed it. Thank you to The Forth for one of the dinners we will remember on our deathbeds!
Though the place has an eccentric layout, the decor and lighting have provided a comfortable, somewhat chic ambiance that (well, almost) distracts you from the challenges they obviously had reconfiguring the premises to their purpose. The blue/grey paneling softens the experience, and helps the physical offering match and enhance the culinary offering. Which is great, by the way. After two visits and counting, we can reliably place The Forth at the top of the Danforth food chain, even though, in itself, that wasn 't going to be a mighty challenge given the paucity of upper echelon cooking to be found in the maelstrom of kebabs and pad thai that characterize the hood. Nonetheless, this new-ish entry eclipses the few other serious contenders like Globe Bistro and Lolita 's Lust we frequent, as much for its innovative-without-the-pretense menu as for the fine quality of its cooking. Not an exhaustive menu (thankfully, so that they can get each dish right], but one that still leaves you with tough choices that each beckon like a Siren. My wife tends toward a preference for vegetarian and fish dishes, and she has been very well served on each visit. Myself, the carnivore, have been delighted by beef, duck, pork, and foie gras selections. Service is highly friendly and professional, from the warm welcome to the product-knowledgeable waitstaff. I 've tended to be too full for desserts, but my wife has stepped up to the plate each visit, and been rewarded with fresh, in-house treats that matched the earlier courses for taste and quality. Our 'hood is so much better now that The Forth is with us...
Since the moment I arrived back to Toronto I have heard about the fried chicken at Forth Avenue Kitchen Bar with reverence. It was on the have to go list and we finally went on Good Friday. It is sleek, modern and elegant but is is also decorated with a giant “EAT” sign on the wall which made me personally feel instantly comfortable and welcomed. They lived up to their goal to serve “locally sourced, home cooked cuisine in a casual yet elegant environment“. It is a lovely restaurant with seating at the front, along the bar and a bigger space at the back. Even though we perused the menu it was pretty clear we were all there for the fried chicken dinner which was $19. It is “southern style” which must mean overwhelmingly crispy and delicious chicken served over stunningly creamy mashed potatoes and melt-in-your-mouth green beans. Damn! The gravy was very subtle which normally I would not be too thrilled about but it worked perfectly to meld everything together in a balanced and beautiful way. Apparently everyone raves about the Chocolate Budino (a chocolate pudding with hazelnuts and salted caramel, need I say more? so that is what I ordered for dessert. The Chocolate Budino did not disappoint! Not only was the creamy ooey gooey chocolate caramel dessert stunning, it contrasted with the crunchy hazelnuts perfectly and look at that perfect quenelle on top! Impressive. I also had a taste of the classic cheesecake was dusted with fine white chocolate shavings and anointed with fresh berries. That was one of the best bites of cheesecake I have had in a restaurant. It is the real deal. Firm but luscious, not moussie. Forth Avenue Kitchen Bar is very elegant and the service was great and the food tasted like home. Quite a fascinating mix that feels like an open invitation for this foodie to come back and try even more of their dinner delights.
