Went for Hot Pot at the Celebrity Hot Pot restaurant, on a Wednesday night, reservations are recommended, but the place wasn't very busy the day we went. My son has been there many times, so he ordered for us, and it was very good. Nothing fancy, but good food, and lots of it. We ordered baby bok choy, and it came in a basket and was just heaped up. There is a 'sauce bar' where you can mix and match your own flavours of sauces, as well as unlimited water, honey green tea, and plum juice. Plum juice we found very sweet, but good. They bring the food to you in small trays, similiar to when you order sushi, and you cook in these big pots of broth in the middle of the table. You can order a variety of meats, vegetables, noodles, and then they bring you ice cream for dessert..... overall a very nice introduction into the world of Hot Pot..... like the sign says "Japanese Fondue" !!
We walked in, no sign saying whether or not to be seated, so we took a booth. Can't tell you alot about the food because no one ever came to give us a menu or take our order. Did not seem to be anyone working. Had they gone home and left the lights on and the door open?? A man in the corner and a boy, went behind the counter poured themselves a pop and sat back down. I made eye contact with the man, he nodded, but it did not result in any service being offered. Bizarre. We left never having established contact with staff or proprietors.
It was very fun to sit and cook food in whatever order you wanted to eat it in. The fish was lovely, the meat and chicken was very tender, portions were good, the broth to cook it all in was VERY good - most at our table of 7 ended up drinking a bowl of broth rather than drinking anything else. Both the kids and adults had fun. Good for conversation, big tables, TONS of choices for ingredients. Definitely going to go back.
This is comfort food Asian style. I was a little overwhelmed with the menu but Dat came over, explained how hot pot works and ordered the first round of food. His selection brought something from everything on the menu. You get various noodles, veggies, fish and meat options. I loved the hand made wontons and meat balls. Sauces range from spicy to sweat and diners are encouraged to mix their own sauces for dipping. Dat even has his own signature sauce that I recommend trying. Go with plenty of time and a huge appetite as you will be here a while trying everything on the menu. It's also a great value for all you can eat and not having to get up for every plate is nice. Hot pot is an experience and i recommend your first time at celebrity hot pot!
