I visited Manpuku last weekend and it was quite busy, but definitely worth the wait! I waited in line for about 15-20 minutes and then another 10-15 minutes for my food. They made it clear that they were short-staffed, which was understandable. I came here specifically for their udon as I had heard great things about it, and I must say, it did not disappoint! The broth and noodles were cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. The prices were reasonable and affordable. I also tried another dish, although I can't remember the name. It was tasty, but the portion of meat was a bit small. I also ordered a soft drink and our total bill came to around $22, which was very affordable for two dishes and a drink. Overall, I had a great experience at Manpuku and would definitely recommend trying their udon.
A hidden gem in downtown Toronto, this restaurant serves delicious Japanese food at incredibly low prices. My dining companion and I ordered two main dishes (beef curry udon and pork curry rice) as well as additional sides (tofu nuggets and grilled tuna rice balls) all for a total of around $30 CAD including tax and tip for both of us. The udon noodles were perfectly cooked and the curry broth had a rich flavor. It seems like they may use MSG as we were quite thirsty after our meal, and the sides were a bit hit or miss. However, considering the affordable prices, I would still recommend this place as a must-visit spot! The staff is friendly but can be a bit slow due to being understaffed, so be prepared for some delays in service.
The service, dining, and overall experience at this restaurant were amazing! Despite a slight delay in seating due to the busy day, the small staff managed to deliver high-quality food and fast service. The menu is simple and affordable, but for all the right reasons. We also enjoyed the onigiri, priced at $4 for two. Almost every udon dish is priced under $10 here. We will definitely be returning to try out all of their other udon and rice dishes.
Service was great, there was ample seating during lunch time even though it was really busy. I tried the onigiri and Niku udon with pork. Both tasted great and the prices made these really good value meals. Highly recommend.
