It was a nice little place with a friendly waitress who helped me take my lunch to my table. The Cornish pasty was tasty and we had a nice hot chocolate that went with it. It was worth the price and a nice little stop off.
Terrible experience, food basic, cleanliness awful, toilets disgusting. Staff not interested, manager (Ali) very rude to customers and staff. We had cheesy chips there was green mould on the cheese. I had the cream tea, the clotted cream pot was on it's sell by date, and the scones were defrosted in the microwave the inside was still frozen. No wonder this has a food rating of 1 I did phone the council to check!! They do not display their rating no wonder really. This used to be an iconic restaurant in Paignton not now. Their other business is a kebab shop also without a food rating.!!
I had sausage and chips which was mediocre as the sausage was like rubber and in fact bounced when dropped. Chips were good but quickly became cold and soggy. The chicken nuggets my family said were not crispy and quite bland. However the cream tea is acceptable and quite nice
Shop was pretty empty at lunchtime so not a great sign. Just one member of staff on duty too. The jacket potatoes used to be fresh out of the potato oven, but today it was microwaved. The potato and filling was ok,but it came in a polystyrene container with a plastic fork. In this day and age we should be saying no to single use plastic.
Been popping into Maisons now for 10 years on our annual week in Paignton, and again the hot chocolate was to die for. Hadn't spoken to the owner before as we are usually here around 12 but at 4 it was quite quiet and seemingly ready to close. Parking is the usual seaside impossibility, but its worth the walk wherever you find a parking space. £2.50 for a hot chocolate made with milk in a large mug, not WATER, is the best around. As we were on our way to eat in Scoffs we had to miss the wonderful cakes sold here, not a thing we do often. Loads of seatings, and a couple outside amongst the noisy traffic and aggressive seagulls, so always a seat available. We'll be back.
