Contribuiți la feedbackHad lunch here in Monday. Lovely old 16th century pub, so be careful of the low ceilings and small door. Nice warm fire and very friendly bar staff. Food was lovely and well presented. Menu was made up of traditional pub favorites and also a few unusual items. The mushroom and spinach baklava is highly recommended. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
We go to the MOK regularly and our children are always very welcome- their favourite thing is the fish pond and spotting trout in the river alongside the pub. Food here is excellent and there is always a roaring fire in the pub through winter. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Kids menu is good and the kids roast is enormous! It’s a small cosy pub so if your child is running around they risk getting hot food land on them hence why you’d be better bringing colouring etc and keeping them at the table! Ruby the dog is an added attraction too. Definitely worth a visit!!
We arrived on a Sunday (often considered a family day at 4.30pm. On arrival my 18months old was very pleased to see her 2year old buddy: they ran up and down the pub making a lot of noise in their excitement to see each other: and so we were asked to stop them running about and sit them down: we did what they asked, even though it wasn’t in the politest way. We understood it was a little over excitement! We then sat with them in high chairs while they had snacks and played with some toys we had bought along: we spent at least £100 while there and as we left; around an hour later, who I assume was the front of house woman followed us outside to tell us we were not welcome there with our children who upset the locals and ruined their time there! They are not a child orientated pub were her words(even though they have high chairs available!!!!!! I was shocked and appalled by this attitude and would warn anybody with young children not to waste time going to such a hostile place! Apparently children are NOT WELCOME!!!!!!!
We were in the area and fancied a spot of lunch so looked up some nearby places and decided on The Man of Kent.So happy we did. What an excellent pub. Independent with happy, friendly staff and an ideal lunch menu. Yeah, about that menu. Do not look any further than the homemade Chicken Kiev. OMG it is to die for. Undoubtedly THE greatest Chicken Kiev in Kent if not the UK. Incredible. Thanks for a great visit.
We booked a table for 13.30 for 5 people. It was a treat for my mother in law as she came to the area as a child hop picking. Our welcome was warm and we were shown our table. We ordered drinks and ordered our food. We ordered a range of food from their Autumn menu. I had the leek and potato soup, it was gorgeous, piping hot and in a very generously sized bowl. I then had the fish pie, never have I eaten a fish pie that tasted so fresh. It was beautiful and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. We’ve eaten here a few times but the general consensus amongst our party was that it was the best meal we had ever had there. Thank you. Xx
