I stayed there with two of my best friends. the place is very clean, exceptionally updated and a peaceful place in the arizona desert. not forgetting so much history, looks like it was meant.
Like everything else in Tombstone, Caffe Margarita has a rich history. It was once known as the Russ House, which was established in 1880 by Sal Anderson and Jacob Smith. The Russ House boasted a clear view of the mine and housed one of the largest dining rooms in Tombstone. It was a remarkable establishment for its time, featuring spring mattresses and other modern amenities. The Russ House is also associated with the famous 'Angel of Tombstone,' Nellie Cashman. During our visit, we were encouraged by the locals to experience one of the city’s premier culinary delights at Caffe Margarita. We began our meal with fresh guacamole and queso as appetizers. After a long day of sightseeing and visiting museums, we decided to try the prickly pear margarita that our new friend Steve Goldstein had recommended. All three menu items were spot on! The homemade guacamole was absolutely delightful, with the perfect consistency and a medley of flavors that left us feeling elated. The queso was also a refreshing treat for our taste buds. Having lived in California for so long, I had almost forgotten what real queso tasted like! It’s a rare dish to find out there, and even when you do, it doesn’t compare to the incredible Tex-Mex flavors I grew up with. Caffe Margarita did a fantastic job with both dishes, and I highly recommend them. As for the prickly pear margarita, this 16-ounce drink was a true gem, crafted with lime, prickly pear Midori, Chambord, and Grand Marnier. It was absolutely delicious and paired perfectly with our appetizers. Be sure to try it! For our main course, we couldn’t resist ordering the house specialty: sizzling hot fajitas! Just take a look at the picture, and you'll see what I mean. We all opted for the beef fajitas, which were expertly prepared and came with fresh tortillas, Mexican rice, and roasted beans. The combination of fresh meat and seasoning was out of this world. Our hungry group knew we had made the right choice to dine at Caffe Margarita! To end our meal, we indulged in the sweet and creamy flan paired with some tequila. We shared great stories about our day’s adventures while sitting by the warm fire, listening to a live band. What a wonderful atmosphere! This will definitely not be my last visit to Caffe Margarita; you can count on that!
I had a fantastic chicken tortilla soup! I tried the homemade version, and it was delicious. The staff was very friendly, and the service was quick. The portion sizes were generous for the affordable prices. I will definitely be coming back!
The Russ House exceeded all my expectations. It's beautifully designed, perfectly capturing the essence of its historic theme, and everything is clean and comfortable. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The breakfast vouchers were a fantastic perk, and every meal we had at the Longhorn was delicious and reasonably priced. Cassandra, the concierge, was prompt and incredibly helpful, providing great recommendations and going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. If I ever return to Tombstone, the Russ House will be my top choice. It feels like a hidden gem with so much to offer—truly a diamond in the rough.
