Porto Mar - Tías

We visited this restaurant on a friend recommendation. It was OK and if I'm honest in comparison.to other meals I had throughout the week not great value for money. We had main courses, desserts and a drink each. I was surprised to be charged over 4 euro for a small bottle of still water! After waiting about 10 minutes for our bill we were overcharged by almost 50 euro! When we finally got someone's attention to point out the mistake we were told that we were given someone else's bill! So we waited another while for this to be rectified and then another 10 minutes for our change!! Even then it seems like we were charged the higher price for the tbone steak that was supposedly on special. We considered leaving no tip but instead opted for a lesser one.

I’m a single female having fairly recently lost my husband and look for places where I think I will feel comfortable eating alone. I made a wrong decision choosing this place. I was made to feel like I wasn’t worthy of their time. The food was ok, nothing special. I had chicken breast which was a bit dry so obviously overcooked. On the menu it offered a choice of sauces, I chose mushroom. I asked what would be served with the chicken and was told chips, rice and vegetables. I asked for no rice and did receive the correct food. No one came to check on me, other tables with more than one person were checked on though. I asked for the bill and waited about 15 minutes. It wasn’t even that busy. Eventually I was given the bill after asking again. I had been charged extra for the mushroom sauce, I got the impression that it was included in the price on the menu and not extra. Wanting to be away as it was getting dark and I had to walk back alone I left slightly more cash than my bill came to as I didn’t want to wait for change. I hadn’t intended to leave a tip as I don’t think it was worth it. Anyway, I most definitely will not be going back here. I don’t think I have ever felt more uncomfortable and that I was just being tolerated.

This place is incredible. Went with the Mrs last night and it was busy. The staff asked if we wanted to sit in or outside, we asked for outside but no tables free so they got one from inside and put in a perfect spot so we got the sea breeze right at the front. Immediate,friendly service was provided and the cocktail and beer was with us prompt. The waiter provided up with meal recommendations with a constant smile on his face. The Mrs had a beautifully cooked tuna steak in a lemon butter sauce with lovely potatoes. I had a lamb shank cooked to perfection with Moroccan sauce , mint sauce and fries. The food was the best we had on the island by far.The staff were so polite,friendly and attentive. Hamza along with the other waiters were fantastic and Moad the manager came to atalk to us and ask how everything was. Lovely guys. We was that impressed by the food I went to the kitchen to shake the chefs hand. Live music was playing throughout at a perfect tone. The owner Ging came and joined us at the table and we had a lovely chat at the end. We went there about 8.30pm and left around midnight as there was no need to go elsewhere when we was enjoying it so much. Perfect evening and thank you to everyone . See you soon.

Estando de visita en Lanzarote por motivos laborales, escogí este restaurante porque se me apetecía comer bien y que no se me fuera de precio. La comida espectacular, la atención muy buena, los camareros simpáticos. Música en directo para pasarlo bien mientras cenas. Cero quejas. Cuando vuelva a Lanzarote, repetiré.

Buenísimo el ambiente, muy animados todos los camareros
