Swiss Chalet - Thunder Bay

This restaurant can be quite inconsistent. The vegetables are frequently undercooked, so I would suggest steering clear of them. The skin on the dishes is often undercooked, greasy, and lacks crispiness, which is really disappointing since that's usually the best part. I felt compelled to write this review because my Canuck burger today was missing BBQ sauce and coleslaw, which was puzzling. I appreciate the options available for those with dietary restrictions, but there’s definitely room for improvement. Perhaps consider bringing in more skilled kitchen staff.

However, I couldn’t give this visit five stars because the secondary server forgot to bring us a glass of water until our primary server heard about it from us, which she then promptly addressed. She even added an extra bowl of dipping sauce as a gesture of goodwill. One small downside was that the servers didn’t engage with us much during our visit. Despite this, I would definitely go back again.

We were visiting from out of town and were really looking forward to dining here, as there isn't a location where we live. Our server was adequate, but the manager on duty was quite rude. When we received our chicken, two plates had pink meat inside, which didn't look appetizing at all. The manager came over to explain that it was just how it looks when cooked, but I've eaten at many Swiss Chalets and have never encountered pink chicken before! She was extremely disrespectful and even charged us for the fries my husband had, despite him saying he didn't want his chicken replaced. We certainly won't be returning! The dining room was empty, yet it still took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. What a waste of time.

It's the best value out there. The sauce, the fries, and the chicken are all usually excellent. A lot of older people like to eat here, but what puzzles me is why they give such hard buns. Older people need fibre and soft buns. Not too gluten friendly but otherwise the food is tasty and reasonably priced.

We ordered lunch for a big group. It was hot, delicious and above and beyond what we expected. Definately would recommend. Thank you
