I usually do not do this. However, I am a veteran and I must express my complete disgust with the treatment I received at the IHOP in Newbury Park CA. This is the advertisement that I viewed on November 10, 2023. IHOP Veterans and active duty military get free Red, White, Blueberry Pancakes or Pancake Combo on November 11 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dine in only, at participating restaurants. I called this IHOP on Friday November 10th to verify they were honoring this offer repeating my inquiry regarding the pancake combo. The young lady I spoke with said that the pancake combo was being offered. This morning my girlfriend and a veteran friend of mine went to this IHOP and the waitress informed me the combo was not a part of the deal. I informed her I called yesterday to confirm the offer and she said she was the only woman in the restaurant at the time I called and denied the conversation. I asked to speak with the manager. The manager named Amaryani said the combo was not part of the deal. I showed her the ad on my phone and she said only the red white and blue pancakes plate was in the deal. I persisted in my claim that both items were advertised. After she said repeatedly she couldn 't do it because the owner wouldn 't authorize it. I asked her to get the owner on the phone. She then said only one us a veterans could get the combo. I said that was fine since my friend just wanted the pancakes only item. As she turned away she said, You just want something for free . I felt insulted and I replied Well you are just a nothing . She walked over and said I am letting you know that I am refusing service. My girlfriend, friend and I had no choice but to leave. This is a horrible way to treat a customer, especially a veteran on Veterans Day.I will be reporting this manager 's rude insulting conduct to the owner of this IHOP and I am recommending all veterans and anyone else who feels this was unacceptable customer treatment to boycott the Newbury Park IHOP.
I ordered a veggie pesto omelet and my Husband and our friends. Who drove 25 miles to meet us ordered eggs and waffles. All their food was cold. But my omelet was simply a Fried flat egg folded over a few mushrooms and tomatoes. Couldn 't find the Pesto anywhere. It was SO small it looked like a child 's portion. See photo. Server returned 15 MINUTES later asking if our food was OK. I explained this was NOT an omelet , but a Fried egg. After INSISTING it Was, she brought it back snd LOUDLY told the kitchen to make it with REAL EGGS . So, what did she serve me the first time? Don 't go to this IHOP. Find Another restaurant, there are Plenty around for LESS money and BETTER Quality Food.
This is a very small IHOP. Always busy. not the fastest but yummy and fresh ?.
The food, as always, is good but a little cold today. A little pricey for 2 breakfasts and 2 teas. $35.
