The setting was lovely, with a sheltered patio to dine on. The service was pleasant and reasonably prompt. What really made our visit special was the owner's invitation to feed the wallabies, see Doris the crocodile, and meet the two dingos he fosters. These amazing animals are clearly highly intelligent and sentient creatures, and watching them jump (like a deer, but from a standing start) was truly incredible. The owner was very passionate about the animals and shared interesting information with our group. I was disappointed to see some group members leave without making a donation, as the owner generously gave his time and the experience was well worth supporting. I believe this place would be popular with families, as kids would love the opportunity to visit these animals.
We had lunch here. I ordered fish and chips and my husband ordered steak sandwich. Both meals were perfect, warm and tasty. Good value and service.
Lunch on a warm day. Arrived just as the tour trips finished but still found seats and then had the best fish of the day and king prawn salad in ages. just sad we only found it at the end of the trip
It's really quite a spectacular experience to chow down on a fabulously cooked fish burger whilst watching the free roaming pythons, lorikeet, cockatoo and naughty Galah (it chews holes in the restaurant wall cladding! . There is also a wallaby enclosure and blue tongued skinks enclosure I thought it was a great place to have lunch, especially for a family, as the wildlife experience keeps the kids entertained whilst waiting for lunch. There is a great selection of local Daintree teas to choose from (I loved the chilli chai and my kids loved the milkshakes.
We initially bypassed the quaint rural wooden shackfront of Lync Haven due to the misleading signage, which only indicated the accommodation park and not the highly regarded Doris bar. We even ventured up to CJ's on the beach, but were unimpressed and decided to turn back. We were fortunate to do so, as we were pleasantly surprised by the rural charm, warm welcome, and delicious food at Lync Haven. The Fish Special of the day, Coral Trout, was a standout, and the other meals were equally delicious. The owner showed a strong commitment to animal conservation, and he was both informative and hospitable. We were entertained by the semi-resident pet python napping in the foliage under the parrot roost. Overall, it was a great spot to stop for lunch.
