Jyuban Ramen House - Thornhill

Favourite ramen place in the area - way better than Sansotei. The texture of the ramen at Jyuban has never disappointed. My biggest pet peeve with ramen is when it's too soft. It's never the case here. I usually get the tonkotsu pork ramen. The soup is very tasty, and there's no MSG! I've never been left with horrible thirst for hours (ahem, Sansotei). The pork is also very sweet and tasty. I love the red bean dessert as well. I'm no self-proclaimed foodie or ramen connoisseur; all I know is what I like, and damn, the ramen here is GOOD.

I walked in with family with an expectation of eating Japanese ramen. With lots of Japanese word and settings, it appears that they fall short on the noodle. The noodle served in the bowl was cheap chinese regular noodle, yet they charge over $10 a bowl. This is unacceptable and please do not be fool by this restaurant.

No MSG, No preservatives, no coloring everything natural. Hand made Japanese Noodle, excellent taste. Especially their squid ink ramen, must try.

I was looking for something warm and homey in a cold night, happy that I picked this place over others in the same plaza. I finished the whole bowl of ramen including soup knowing that there is no MSG and preservatives. The portion of topping is just right, love the taste of bbq pork and soft boiled egg. However I hope the ramen can be more chewy.

First, let me just say that I love ramen and have been unable to find a decent ramen place in Toronto. Nothing compares to actual ramen from Japan. With that being said, the soup base and toppings used here comes very close to what I've had on my trips to Japan. The soft boiled eggs are especially flavourful! Unfortunately, the noodles were a major disappointment. They were more like HK Cafe style soup noodles (which uses spaghetti) rather than actual ramen.If I could just buy the toppings and soup base separately and add my own ramen in later own, I would do so in a heartbeat.
