Contribuiți la feedbackPopular among non-Asians who like to savor spicy Northern style Chinese cuisine, however, this chained restaurant was amongst one of my least favorite Chinese eatery in the GTA. With a couple of mediocre meals under my belt from years ago, the disappointing dining experience prevented me from further re-visits....until today. With no say or input requested, I tagged along with my in-laws to this Thornhill branch for lunch, after a long multi-year hiatus. Unfortunately, the experience was sadly the same as my previous two thumbs down outings.Food were either too bland, overly sweet or excessively spicy. Preparation were mostly soulless and rough with an edge. A few dishes like the salty soya bean milk soup was absolutely a disaster due to the use of suspected expired ingredients?! Dan Dan Noodles was one dimensional, poorly presented and extremely spicy. Vegetable dumplings were un-interesting, filled with bland and tasteless stuffing. Only acceptable dish was an overly salty and spicy, yet delicious ' Twice Cooked Pork '. However, at $13.99, the price was at least $5 over and above some of their competitors in the area!To make matter worse, service was rude and extremely un-attentive. Servers were stealthy and un-accessible!For similar cuisine, Northern Dumpling Kitchen across the road in Time Square is a much better option! Finer and more delicious food at a much more reasonable price point! With so many other choices in and around the GTA, this will definitely be my last visit to this way over-rated place!
My daughter is on a strict diet due to potential allergies until tested. So we have very limited choices in regards to what we can eat when we go out. Certainly many vegetarian dishes. (My D can eat meat.) Egg free. Diary free. Chinese noodles may contain a little bit of egg whites, I'm guessing. So we have been coming back to this restaurant for a few times already in the past couple of months.I think Asian Legend has actually gotten slightly better. In general, Improving. It was used to be really good back then. I am talking about a good ten years ago. For years, we have been guessing that it has had sold to a different boss with new management & chefs. It was just different. I had done an interview with the "previous" owner Bryan Wong/Huang for a student magazine when I was younger.Although I can tell the cooks are no longer the same, our recent visit tells us that it's improving! If you were disappointed on your visit a couple of years ago, give it a try!
Great food and fast service. A lot of choices on the menu. Will definitely eat at this location again.
This restaurant is just down the street from where I work and we go there quite a bit and also get take out. The food is amazingly good and they have huge portions - great for sharing. The value is terrific and it's always packed. If you're going for lunch try and get here early because parking can be difficult. The plaza where it's located has many, many restaurants and it fills up quickly at lunchtime.
The prawn dish with red chillies is awesome . Deep fried tofu in garlic sauce is mouth watering. Complement this with steamed white rice in a bowl . Excellent service , friendly staff and a large seating area generally always almost packed.
