Contribuiți la feedbackI recently ate here, actually day of my birthday and what a mistake. They couldn't decided what food they had to sell. The food we received was terrible, sorry of no interest Service wasn't great Never again
I spent almost three years living in Portugal (the North where all the best food comes from! and so am very familiar with traditional Portuguese food. I 'm currently in Geneva and craving Portuguese flavours and after spotting this place on a walk one day, decided...to come back for dinner. First thing we noticed a bottle of gazela (a cheap, but good vinho verde branco , which costs about 5 EUR in Portugal from the supermarket or 7 CHF in Switzerland was 38 CHF on the menu. And that was the cheapest wine option. I understand we are in Geneva (I 've been here for a year and eat out regularly but that simply seems abusive and greedy to me. I 've seen that same wine for about 25 CHF before in (nicer restaurants in Geneva so that mark up just seems ridiculous. The rest of the menu seemed very like a very watered down version of Portuguese traditional cuisine, adapted to suit foreign palates. This was the second warning bell I believe that if someone has chosen to eat in a Portuguese restaurant in Switzerland, you should give them real, authentic Portuguese dishes. Having optimistically set aside our menu concerns we ordered the grilled squid and octopus dishes. We were not given any bread, olives etc., as in customary in Portugal, even if you are not having a starter. Another warning bell in my mind. The food: the food was just ok. Mediocre is a better word. The way it was served was not traditional and seemed lazy (octopus not served with batatas a murro/grelos or anything similar as is common practice but rather with accompaniments that just didn 't go, squid served with bland, unseasoned, very un Portuguese boiled potatoes . The bland boiled, un seasoned, random assortment of seasonal vegetables on the side of each dish were like something I would expect to be served by a clueless chef in a pub in England, not by a Portuguese restaurant. Overall we were very underwhelmed. We ordered dessert to try to salvage the meal and give the place one last chance to impress us. Figs in port wine with vanilla ice cream was, again, lazy. Dried figs (not properly soaked in the port were served with a single scoop of ice cream. 10 CHF. A word about the service although there appeared to be about 4 servers, they were badly coordinated, inattentive and disappeared for long period of time (we were sitting outside . We noticed that other tables also seemed annoyed by this. Our overall feeling here was that the cooks are under skilled, the owners greedy and the servers indifferent. This place is thankfully like nothing I ever experienced anywhere in Portugal. These people belong in Geneva, not Portugal. In Portugal this restaurant would have closed down a long time ago.
