Contribuiți la feedbackI don't normally like to bag a restaurant as it's someones business however I noticed it was up for sale so I am assuming they don't really care all that much any more. Yes the decor is old & corny circa 1950's not 1970's but...More
If you hanker for what was considered posh Italian food and decor back in the 70's then this might be the place for you. Iceberg lettuce, tomato, grated coon cheese and carrot liberally doused with cheap white vinegar anyone? The food might be prepared to order but I suspect there is heavy reliance on frozen vegetables and frozen pre-prepared seafood here. Prices are certainly not stuck in the 70's.My main gripe is with the surly owner. We have been here a number of times with elderly relatives who love the place. Despite our relatives being regulars the owner is consistently rude and offhand. Our relatives are slightly deaf so can't hear what he says. Before we are accused of being snooty hipsters by the obviously loyal following this place has, I have heard him be equally rude to other patrons dining there too. You will have to do more than play a cheesy recording of Happy Birthday to win me over I'm afraid.
We were in Thirroul on a Saturday evening and found this little Italian restaurant. It was quite busy so we were lucky to get a table. It really was like stepping back in time...from the plastic tablecloth to the 70's style wine glasses. Very unique indeed. We started with deep fried Camembert and a large salad to share. They were both surprisingly yummy. I ordered penne arrabiata which felt safe and it was...I enjoyed it !! My hubby ordered lamb shanks with veggies and mushroom gravy which he also enjoyed. Overall a nice meal and it seems popular amongst the locals, lots of photos on the wall of past customers celebrating. Free corkage an added bonus
I have so many mixed feelings about this place. It's basic italian, and there's a place for that. At least it's not ANOTHER Thirroul Thai restaurant! I would encourage everyone to eat here at least once. You'll leave full. But you'll come out feeling you may have just been in a bit-part of a twin peaks remake.I'll leave the rest to you....PS... If you want some entertainment walk to the bathroom through what kind of feels like their lounge room / office.
We had a great variety of meals to choose from at this restaurant. We decided on pasta and were very pleased with our choice. The pasta was freshly made on site and paired with a delicious sauce. The restaurant is family-owned and operated, and the prices were very reasonable.
