Contribuiți la feedbackWe were initially skeptical as we approached the Rising Sun Hotel in Rosewood, as its exterior looked outdated and in need of some renovations. However, we were hungry and decided to give it a try for lunch. The food turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Two of us ordered the lemon pepper dish, which was cooked to perfection with no tough or chewy parts. Served with salad, chips, and tartar sauce, it was delicious and quite filling. The other two in our group tried the chicken burger and the steak sandwich. The burger was enormous, accompanied by a generous serving of chips that were particularly tasty. The steak sandwich was also praised for its tenderness, making it easy to bite through. Although we don't visit Rosewood from Brisbane often, we will definitely be returning to the Rising Sun Hotel for another meal.
The hotel has a rich history, with the current building dating back to 1909. The dining room was quite basic, and on the day we visited, the chef took care of everything from cooking our meals to taking our orders and even handling the bill payment. There were no other staff present, likely due to the challenges faced by businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time of our visit, there were only two other small groups of guests in the dining room, totaling about 8 people. The decor of the dining room was unremarkable, lacking any distinctive character. The ambiance felt cold and unwelcoming rather than warm and inviting. Nevertheless, the food prepared by the multi-tasking chef was satisfying and plentiful, and both my son and I enjoyed our meals. My son opted for the Chicken Parmy, served with a tomato salad, bacon, and melted cheese, along with crispy chips and salad. I chose a rump steak with seasoned vegetables and mashed potatoes, which I complemented with a glass of rosé from the neighboring bar. Overall, our dining experience at the Rising Sun Hotel was good but fell short of expectations. We felt that some basic changes and improvements, such as updating the dining room and giving the exterior a fresh coat of paint, could greatly enhance the overall experience. This century-old hotel has great potential and deserves better.
On a quiet Sunday drive, we stumbled upon this charming old pub with a revolver hanging on the wall. Despite the pub's appearance, we were pleasantly surprised by the fantastic staff and delicious meals. My partner opted for the budget-friendly $10 midday menu with rissoles and mash, while I indulged in a rib fillet steak with garlic sauce. The portions were generous, typical of a country pub, and we couldn't finish our meals. The drinks were a bit pricey, but the friendly bartenders made up for it. I highly recommend this pub and the town for a visit.
