Gus - Texas City

The filet was cooked to perfection, and the baked potatoes were large and satisfying. However, the grilled chicken salad left much to be desired. It featured only a single slice of tomato and a small amount of cheese, which felt quite lacking for a $13 salad. Aside from that, the service was excellent, as was most of the meal.

The food was excellent, and the service was quick. Our waitress was very friendly. All I can say is that I’m still hungry!

I used to visit this restaurant frequently, especially for my birthday. After moving to Gilmer, TX, whenever I return to the city, I always make a point to stop by. They serve the best-flavored steaks I’ve ever had; none of the other places compare. It’s truly a favorite of mine.

We headed down to Texas City from East Texas, on our way we googled “best places to eat in Texas City.” We are SO glad that Gus’ came up!! It was the best experience to start off our vacation!! The staff was so friendly!! Bre was our waitress and she was fabulous!! Her sister is the bartender, she made us both some delicious drinks!! We got the stuffed jalapeños (SO GOOD! , the catfish ettoufe (again SO GOOD! …and Bre recommended the HOMEMADE chocolate cake it is TO DIE FOR!!! We will definitely be back next time we’re in town!!

This was my first time here. I was really impressed with the atmosphere. Very clean. Friendly staff. The food was delicious. Had the rib eye sandwich. It had a great flavor and nice and hot. The onion rings are homemade. The ranch is homemade also. Loved it and will be back.
