Contribuiți la feedbackLiterally the ABSOLUTE BEST TACOS I HAVE EVER HAD! I live in Bakersfield and will start driving up to Terra Bella a lot more in the summer and we wanted to find a good place to get lunch while we were out there... and there are NOT many places to eat there but man this place... just amazing. The best flavor ever and their tortillas are warmed in oil so they are slightly crispy. We had 2 Asada tacos, 3 Cavesa tacos, 2 Lengua tacos and a ceviche tostada. Guess how much? Nope, $10.50! Best believe I will be driving 45min for tacos from now on. They do have outdoor seating, they take card but you have to pay inside the liquor store, and lots of parking.
This place is THE BEST. Not only are the tacos fresh and delicious, the people that run this taco stand are genuinely friendly, and customer oriented. I am a regular customer at their market and they treat everyone like family. Ever get a Hello. How are you? when you walk in the door of Sav-Mart or Food For Less? Well, that 's what you get here. For a small market they don 't get the same bulk pricing on supplies like the big markets do. Yet they strive to keep prices low for their customers rather than make a huge profit like some others. And I 'd rather pay 5 or 10 cents more for a few items and receive personal treatment than be just another face in the crowd. The owners are some of the best, most honest people you will ever meet. No phonies here, just people who want to give their customers the best prices, food, and experience possible.
These are the best tasting carne asada tacos burritos in the valley. They open from 10am 9pm Tue Sun. It's a taco truck that sits in front of the carniceria. If you don't see the truck out front, then its not open. The owner just told me they will also be serving burgers and fries soon.
I ordered some tacos, and they arrived piping hot—so hot, in fact, that I burned my tongue, but I appreciate the heat! The al pastor was good and flavorful, though a bit too salty due to heavy seasoning. The carne asada was well-marinated, and the lengua was delicious! It was well-cooked, almost a little dry, but still very tasty. The tacos come with a side of homemade green sauce that packs a bit of a kick. There’s only outdoor seating under a white tent with three walls, which traps the heat quite effectively, so it can get uncomfortably hot inside. This really encouraged me to eat quickly so I could move on to my next destination. As a sales rep, I find there aren't many dining options in the area. The best part? Tacos are just a dollar each—what a fantastic deal! Just a heads up: the restroom is located inside the tiny market and left a lot to be desired. I only used it to wash my hands and found it a bit off-putting. You could opt for a place like Sambroso that has air conditioning but serves lower quality food, or you could stick with this hidden gem for something truly authentic. Most of the locals speak Spanish, which adds to the authenticity. There aren't many American-style eateries in the area, so the food definitely caters to the local crowd.
--- Alright, let me just say that one or more of the following statements might be true: A) This place is completely overrated and not very good. B) I had a one-time bad experience. C) My expectations differ from those of my fellow Terra Bellans and other reviewers of this food truck. I decided to check it out after my family, who live nearby, highly recommended it. The truck was moderately busy for an early evening, and everything seemed to be running smoothly, which usually bodes well for the quality of food. The clientele was predominantly Mexican, which is typically a great sign when ordering from a taco truck. I placed a straightforward order for my first visit: two al pastor tacos and two carne asada tacos, all the way, to go. No Mexican truck, taqueria, bakery, or backyard spot should serve this combination with anything less than good quality. While waiting for my order, I filled a few disposable ramekins with the salsas available, which my family had warned me were quite spicy. When my order was ready, I took my food to eat in my car. Here’s my take on the meal: *The tortillas were poorly prepared and packaged. They hadn’t been grilled long enough to achieve even a hint of charring. Once assembled, the tacos were placed in styrofoam containers. Even though I only walked about 25 feet before starting to eat, the tortillas were bland, excessively oily (some oil is expected), and most disappointingly, they were very soggy due to the undercooked styrofoam contact. As for the meat, the carne asada disappointed both in flavor and texture. It lacked any noticeable marinade or seasoning (I’m a purist when it comes to flavors, but some seasoning is essential). The desired balance of moisture, tenderness, and char was nonexistent. It tasted like the pre-made, stored steak from those Americanized restaurants (I’m looking at you, On The Border!). Just bland and forgettable. The al pastor wasn't any better. It was overly oily (and not in the good, well-marinated way), lacked flavor, and was quite chewy with gristle. Since this truck is part of a carniceria parked right outside, you’d think the meat would at least be decent, but it was not. As for the salsa: the hot salsa was acceptable, but it lacked depth of flavor. Overall, the salsas here were below average. On the bright side, although I only received one small lime slice for four tacos, it was just what I expected! However, I was disappointed to find no radishes or pickled vegetables. I left feeling hungry and really wanted to enjoy this truck. If I ever return, my family will have to bring something from there for me to try, because I can't risk a repeat of this experience. I truly hope I just had an off day, as options are limited in Tierras. Vote with your wallets, folks! --- Hope this works for you!
