Casa Maribel - Termens

On my way between Lerida and Barcelona, I google-mapped ‘restaurant close by’ and happened upon Casa Maribel. On a busy road and nothing much to look at, once inside I discovered a reasonably well appointed place, large bar and some outdoor seating under cover. I ordered a ‘menu’, the typical hungry worker’s lunch: I was automatically given a bowl of simple, crispy salad, and some delicious rustic crusty bread, free of charge. Soon enough my paella de marisco first course appeared, better presented than any I had tried before in ‘menu’ form’ in 15 years in Spain. Second up was the ‘meloso de ternera’... OMG An incredible large piece of succulent slow slow roasted (5 hours I was informed) marinaded beef, in red wine gravy, and some roasted potato and a rice garnish. 2 euro supplement. Spectacular melt in the mouth food for the hungry traveller looking for good food and service rather than good views and fancy decor. The Bill for my free salad and bread, generous noodle paella (fideua), and succulent beef, a beer, a sparkling Vichy Catalan water and a black coffee, plus a 1 1/2 litre water to take away: 19.00 euros

Una comida maravillosa, un local muy digno y un servicio excepcional.Sólo puedo decir que el sitio desborda calidad en todos los sentidos.Sin duda volveré a menudo.
