The Snooty Fox - Tendring

At this charming, traditional pub in the countryside, you can always expect a warm reception. The Sunday roasts here are not only delicious but also great value for money. The meals are well prepared with a generous serving of vegetables and extra gravy.

Today was the third time i have visited this local pub and eaten both in the bar area and restaurant area . We find the specials on the board are really good and would recommend the traditional English dishes as being good value and cooked very nicely On the three visits i have mode to the fox over the last few months i always find the service to be really good and friendly . This is very much a locals pub and eatery so do expect the surroundings and décor to very much reflect this fact. I would not hesitate to recommend this really nice local pub and hope the new tenants do well

Booked the Snooty Fox for Sunday lunch, as a couple of members of our party have specific dietry needs and it seemed that their menu would suit our varied requirements, there was also a play area for children. The website did not make it clear that the play equipment, is infact, across the other side of the carpark. We were a little disappointed that the Sunday roast meats were different than those offered on their Web page. This would have been a bigger issue if we were not able to order from the bar snack menu....not what we came for but hey, better than nothing. The choice of meats was good but the veg, whilst still tasty, was all overcooked. Also, we did not like the use of parsley(? To 'dress ' the cauliflower cheese, not needed on a roast! Unfortunately the vegetarian choice was poor, I was, at first, offered 'all the trimmings just not the meat '! Not really what I 'd expect in 2022. I eventually managed to order a vegetarian burger with the trimmings from the roast. The waitress did say that they were thinking of doing some sort of nut roast for vegetarians.... Loved that they had Aspalls cider on tap and a pretty ok wine choice. Probably not the review they wanted but, on the bright side, loads of room for improvement.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. After placing our order, we waited 90 minutes for our food to arrive. The atmosphere was chaotic due to a party, with people constantly going to the buffet and singing karaoke. Our drinks were taken when we sat down, but we never saw our server again. Both of our steaks were overcooked and the mushrooms were extremely tough. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this establishment.

Very lovely little pub. Drinks, food and service was excellent. One we will certainly return too since being under new management.
