John's Fish - Tendring

Although they initially had trouble with understanding orders, the food has always been consistently great. They have since improved their understanding of English slang and language. I highly recommend this chip shop, Janna.

Very nice chip shop with reasonable prices. Food is cooked lovely but the only negative is the wait can be slightly too long. I've waited 25 mins before just for a cod and chips.

We are staying in clacton for a few days and fancied some fish and chips looked at the ratings for John's fish shop and decided to try it was glad I did as the food was very good

The food and service were good, but I was disappointed by the increase in prices. I used to be able to get a budget-friendly order of cod and chips for £3.50, but now it's £6 just for the cod. This is absolutely shocking to me, so I will not be returning to this restaurant. Luckily, there is another chip shop in town where I can get a budget cod for £5. I will go there instead when I want a quick bite to eat.

While on my way to Clacton-on-Sea for a work meeting, I was craving some fish and chips. I looked online for the closest highly rated chip shop near my hotel, and found this one. It was easy to locate from the seafront. I ordered a medium cod with small chips and 2 ketchup packets for a total of £10, which I found to be a reasonable price compared to what I would pay back in Devon. They also offered a budget fish and chips option for £6. The wait was very reasonable. The food was excellent - the chips were really tasty and the portion size was good. The fish was chunky and delicious, with a crispy batter. There was a bit of oil in the wrapper, but it didn't bother me. Overall, it was an excellent fish and chips experience. I would definitely go back if I find myself in the area again.
