Magpies Softserve - Tarzana

I love vegan softserve and it was stinkin hot today in the valley, so this meets the point. Simply double check what you order is vegan.

I ordered the strawberry soft tea and it was absolutely heavenly. The soft texture was refreshing, and the crumbly shortbread, berry compote, and whipped cream on top tasted just like strawberry shortcake! The portion size was generous. I am currently in a delightful food coma, but it was definitely worth it.

Magpies is extremely vegan-friendly and offers a wide range of flavors including vegan waffles with various toppings. If you're unsure of what to try, Mai's almond flavor is a safe bet as it is one of their most popular options. It doesn't have a strong corn taste, but instead reminds me more of a soft vanilla almond. The newest flavors that have quickly become my favorites are Thai tea (similar to Thai iced tea) and young coconut. Magpies has truly perfected these two flavors and, in my opinion, they are the best ones they have come up with so far. What sets this place apart is that they make all their offerings in-house. I still have yet to try one of their cakes, but I will definitely be ordering one soon!

This place is SO good. And I found the prices to be super reasonable. The staff is also really friendly as well. I wish I lived closer!

I'm still puzzled as to why they offer dairy options at all when they can create such tasty and cruelty-free vegan flavors. I haven't sampled all of them yet, as I keep going back to the corn-almond with maple coconut topping - it's absolutely heavenly! The fried vegan ice cream pie is also out of this world. I've ordered a whole pie twice now for special occasions, and everyone who's tried it agrees that it's the best pie they've ever had. It's addictive!
