The meat was overcooked and lacked flavor. Overall, the dining experience was disappointing and the food did not seem authentic.
The Rice and Beans were delicious, but the Mexican Corn lacked seasoning. Only a small portion of the corn had seasoning, making it taste more like plain corn than traditional Mexican corn.
Of the many Mexican restaurants I checked, the best have used the freshest, most authentic ingredients. The Taco project is in the last category. However, one step continues. While most Mexican joints play it safe by taking your expected homegrown ingredients, The Taco Project takes some chances. The vegetable burrito I ordered had two remarkable differences. One was that it contained plastered crushed cabbage and a cheese that tasted like feta cheese. These two differences made this dish unforgettable and added an explosion of aromas and textures with every bite I took. The fish tacos were presented in soft full wheat bowls, but another difference between this facility and the others. Oh, and they give you two ways of guacamole with chips, mild and spicy. It was dying. The ambience of this place was festive with a colorful mural full of Mexican motifs. Continuous music was whipped in a lively beat. As I live an hour in South Brooklyn, this place will now be my way to Mexican place when I find myself in Tarrytown.
The Taco project proposes to reproduce on many levels the taqueria w / a modern swirl model n knock it out of the park... the ambience is bright n IG worthy show a series of photo ops! The food is just as good as the decor, we ordered chorizo n pork belly tacos and both playbacks were spot on. the lil attention on details placed them over the top. The crispy fried papas, the shredded radishes... the guacamole! All aces! Very recommended n if it wasn't for the price a lil steep I would be there like fitness training on the regular still. Worth a trip!
