La Plage Resort - Taormina

The location is great yet the service is a disaster. Do they know how to smile ? Special mention to Andrea apparently the one in charge who is incapable of a single smile and to make you feel welcome. Service: 1 Location: 5

We are not guests of the resort, visiting Isola Bella we opted for a day at the seaside and stopped at the resort's management beach facing the sea. Two sunbeds with towel and umbrella 80 euros, bar service: slice of pizza, arancino and two spritzes for just over thirty euros. The sea is very beautiful, the service fast and attentive. The cost considering the location is reasonable. Service: 5 Location: 5

The service at the beach (food drinks) was horrendous! The waiters would intentionally ignore you and the drinks took a very long time to get to us. We also wanted to order more food and drinks, but the unwelcoming faces of the staff made us just leave and go someplace else. We noticed other clients be furious about the service too! I really, really do not recommend staying at this hotel. If you are looking for a true 5 star experience, look elsewhere. My husband and I visited Taormina as the last stop on our Italian honeymoon. We were excited to have a great experience in Taormina, just as we did in Amalfi, but that was not the case. We paid for a deluxe seaside bungalow with jacuzzi. The website boasts privacy but it is not private at all. The patio overlooks a very busy public beach on the one side, and the outdoor walkway on the other side. The only privacy is by way of a slatted fence that you can see through! The bungalow is incredibly small. My husband and I could hardly move around at the same time and had limited space to open our luggage to prepare for the days. On top of this, the rooms and bathrooms are dated they do not emit luxury as their 5 star rating would have you think. The gym is horrible there is one treadmill, one elliptical, and a cable machine. One night, I noticed our room had ants (we did not have food in the room) I called the front desk for assistance and they sent someone out with some kind of ant spray. However, they barged into our room while we were laying in bed without so much as a knock to let us know they were going to come in. The location is great if you like being surrounded by other beach goers and want to walk up 100 stairs to reach the main road. To get to the town, you must take a cable car (that costs money) or a taxi. The hotel does not provide a complimentary shuttle to town which is a bit ridiculous at this price point. The only good part of our time at La Plage was the breakfast. All in all, we were incredibly, incredibly disappointed with our experience at La Plage and we could not wait for our final day there to fly back to Rome. I kindly asked to use the bathroom on the Isola Bella beach, where there are no public bathrooms. They asked me if I was a guest of the facility, I said no. I was told then no ma 'am sorry, try later . Nice policy, congratulations and thanks.
