The Aspen Food Company - Tamworth

I was really excited to try this restaurant. The menu had a lot of variety and some interesting options. Prices were a bit high, so we expected good quality. The restaurant was beautifully decorated. However, when we arrived for lunch after playing in the snow, it was very crowded. I had asked if we could make a reservation ahead of time, but they only took reservations for evenings. This meant we had to wait for a table. My daughter enjoyed her hotdog, but my husband's pizza was too salty. My Tartiflette was disappointing - the potatoes were hard, underseasoned, and unevenly cooked. The bacon was sparse, the cheese was stringy, and the dish was swimming in cream sauce. The creme brulee was cold with warm sugar on top. I'm giving it 3 stars because the onion rings were good and the staff were friendly, but I wouldn't go back.

To be fair. The restaurant is vastly improved since its refurb. It looks really classy. However, in what's meant to be a family attraction, the menu prices are on the high side. Aspens burger £15.95 Salad £14.95 And that's all before drinks. Wow.

Okay where to start Aspen has now been upgraded to a table service restaurant in the loosest terms. Price compares to table service restaurant but food does not. The ambience gives the impression of a Canadian mountain restaurant's which is lovely but food was more like the old menu fast food style And talk about a standard milkshake drink but paying £7.00. Would I go again no sorry. They seem to missed a trick.

I would hesitate to recommend this place. Spent £60 on three pizzas, a kids mac n cheese, and one round of mostly soft drinks. Already felt like I’d been stung before the food arrived. Attached is a picture of my £12 (approx 9” pizza. Nothing wrong with the ingredients but not well cooked and pretty tasteless. The place has quite a sticky feel to it. The menus were dirty. Also the toilets were a bit grim. My 9 year old son commented on the very strong smell in there. By contrast the facilities at the Starbucks next door were much cleaner.

My bird took me out for a meal at Aspen and oh my lord it was a revelation. It was the day before I could cash my giro and I said I'd give her half when it came through. She drove so I didn't have to get the bus and I said I'd give her some petrol money when I get my giro too. My goodness it was worth it. I think it's worth pushing the boat out and go somewhere nice every now and again. I had the Bratwurst hot dog and I have to say it was the Bratbest. You get it? I love cracking jokes. Anyway, I've got to go. I'm going to miss my last bus from my birds in Kettlebrook.
