Garcia's - Tampico

We always go to the restaurant above the Canada store in Pregresso, Mexico because the food is good, prices low and elegant atmosphere. Never been disappointed by something we ordered.

We ate here on our first trip to Nuevo Progresso with our good friends. They spoke very much about this restaurant and they were on site!!! After Garcia's has been familiar with all the different sockets in Matamoros and Nuevo Progresso over the past fifty years, it is literally an INSTITUTION for us. I was lucky to meet the old man and his two sons, and there is no more subtle race to be found somewhere. God walks to them, and can carry them on forever.

Went for lunch last week on a recommendation of a friend. The restaurant was on the second floor of the Canada Store, on the main street, a few blocks from the border. Very open, clean and well kept. All staff were dressed in Mexican attire, and very polite/courteous. Prices were very reasonable, and the menu had plenty of choices. I had the fish fillet and my wife had the Stuffed Shrimp, both were prepared well, and tasted good. Drinks were cold and the service was attentive and friendly. Of the restaurants I've tried in Progreso, I think the atmosphere was the best of the lot!. I really enjoyed the live entertainment. Again, come early in the day, and plan on being back in the US by mid afternoon. Enjoy!

You don't like Winter Texan very much. On the ground floor they chained the bathroom doors closed. Eating is not bad. Will not go to the joint because they are not much interested in Winter Texans. Spend our money with us.
