Michael's Grill - Tampa

We hadn't been back to Michaels in about a decade and went for our anniversary last night. We were seated promptly and our server was very nice and very knowledgeable, having been there for a number of years, both in the kitchen and out front. We shared the fried brie appetizer and really enjoyed it. The cheese was not overpowering and when combined with the fried coating and a drizzle of strawberry coulis, it all came together very well. My wife had the black grouper with a corn and black bean topping with a hint of lime juice over rice. It was outstanding. The fish was done perfectly and the combination of flavors and textures was really nice. I had the special filet mignon oscar, a 6 oz filet with a creamy crab topping which included chanterelle mushrooms, all over mashed potatoes. It was comfort food, but not your average comfort food. The steak was done perfectly medium (pink in the middle) and it just melted in your mouth. Maybe the best filet I've had. The topping made a great combination, and who doesn't like anything over well made mashed potatoes? We finished with a dessert provided complimentary because of our anniversary! I can't remember the name, but it was a bread pudding and vanilla ice cream combo with a toffee flavored topping along with pecans. It was very flavorful and we're glad we shared as it was a generous portion (as were the meals). We were completely satisfied in all aspects and were kicking ourselves for not making the effort to get back to Michael's sooner. We will definitely be back in the very near future. Definitely, the best crab cakes and best crab bisque in Tampa.

Come here regularly. For a few reasons this was not our best experience. There was no running water but we decided to have lunch anyway as my client comes from quite a distance. We also haven’t had any business lunch meetings near and didn’t know what would work. For our business lunches we prefer the back room and have been fortunate to have 2 regular servers. We assume due to the water problem we could not sit there. We were handed the dinner rather than lunch menus and wondered where the sandwiches went. When questioned our server recognized the problem and promptly got us lunch menus. Although there were not many people in the room, the volume of the music was too loud for our business lunch. Still, we’ve had so many good experiences we will try it again. It’s actually been our most enjoyable and productive meeting locations. Any place can have an off day.

Awesome food in a cute spot! Truly a hidden gem in Tampa

Food was excellent. Very fresh fish prepared with a florida/subtle carribean style. Great service. Wish they had better wines however.
