The cafe's ambiance is charming, but the quality of the food and drinks has declined significantly. The offerings are not up to par with the top establishments in Tallinn, and the prices have been hiked up to match those of luxury hotels. It is now an overpriced tourist trap that I cannot recommend.
This charming little coffee shop in Old Town is a must-visit. The two owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and their coffee is hands-down the best I've ever had in Europe. Be sure to check out the roastery across the street where they roast their coffee, and pick up some fantastic beans and chocolate. I highly recommend trying the ginger chocolate, espresso beans, and black currant cake.
I regret not realizing sooner that there is a cat in the café. If I had known, I would have tried to pet it for a longer period of time. Regardless, this is a place that you will enjoy if you appreciate an interesting, perhaps slightly gloomy castle-like atmosphere, in a good way. The menu is available in both Estonian and English. In addition to a wide selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, you can also choose from various cakes in the fridge or a savory quiche. However, due to its location in a cellar, this place is not wheelchair accessible.
We had ice coffee here. It was good but overpriced. Some of the staff was friendly but some didn't seem to care about customer service.
