Gordos Northside - Tallahassee

Dang Gordos left me feeling disappointed! The Cuban food was below average; the appetizers seemed like they were frozen, with some overcooked and others undercooked. The papa rellena and the ham croquettes were just okay. While this might be appealing to those unfamiliar with the cuisine, it really misses the mark for someone who knows and appreciates Latino flavors. I tried the ultimate Cuban dish, ropa vieja, but it was lacking both flavor and texture. How could such an iconic dish be mishandled? Additionally, I was confused by the Estrella Galicia beer sign. Do you serve that? According to the bartender, no! To make matters worse, I witnessed someone reach into the pickle jar with bare hands and plop those pickles into someone’s drink. No, I definitely won't be coming back!

The Turkey Cuban has been by far been my favorite sandwich here! The amount of meat put into the sandwich is so gracious its really leave your feeling full. The only thing I?d change is adding a little bit more seasoning to the fries to really give it that taste , Instead if it being bland.

We wanted to like this place because it came highly recommended. The Cuban sandwich was decent, but dry and unimpressive. The Pan Con Lechon sandwich was so dry and flavorless that it was barely edible....and only after adding lots of mayo and mustard. I ordered 4 sides of Tostones and 3 of them were so hard, we could not bite into them. To her credit, Mary (the manager) was responsive and helpful by replacing our order of Tostones the next day, but sadly, they were no better. After spending nearly $80 for our food, it was a huge disappointment.

Excellent service! The food was fantastic. I really enjoyed the Pollo Frito sandwich. The beef empanizado was tasty as well. However, the chicken empanada was a bit too spicy for my in-law, though it looked appetizing. For dessert, we had the Dulce de Leche cheesecake, which was simply delicious! Unfortunately, they were out of yuca. The restaurant was clean, and the service was quick and friendly. We will definitely be returning!

The food at Gordos is delightful. The meat is incredibly flavorful. We always make sure to order the sliders, which are our favorite, so they were a must-have for us this time. We also tried the croquettes, chicken wrap, and two beloved Cuban national dishes. The portions are generous, and the flavors always impress.
