Found it and okay not in mainstream easy to find America but where's your sense of the hunt. Latitude 62 is clearly a place where the locals of Talkeetna go for great food and to connect with friends and neighbors but it is simultaneously a welcoming atmosphere to those just passing through or in town for a day or two. The ambiance is rustic Alaska so if you're looking for white table clothes and the like keep going but if you like the kitsch of a snowshoe chandelier etc you found it. Charming in a special way just off the Alaska Railroad Station in Talkeetna and I. Fact you can rest your toes on an old piece of the rail at the bar. Food was plentiful and down home comfort. Service was spot on and in fact extra helpful as we were walking and she connected us to the local free shuttle that even our B&B staff failed to mention. Do if you find yourself hungry near Talkeetna stop on in.
It's early in the season and many of the Restaurants in Talkeetna aren't quite in full operation yet. The best place for breakfast in Talkeetna is the Roadhouse. Unfortunately, it is still not open to the public due to Covid, and my second favorite place, the Flying Squirrel, isn't open on Tuesdays, so we had to wing it and try this place. On this Tuesday morning in May, their breakfast choices included cinnamon bun, coffee and sausage gravy over biscuit. We both got sausage gravy over biscuit and coffee. Eating breakfast in a bar was ... odd, but its very Alaskan, as is the limited selection in such a small town. The food was acceptable. Anyone who has lived here long enough understands that in small towns, this is this how it is for financial reasons. We were nourished, nothing more.
Went 9/10/2023 Waited a few minutes and someone stated that we can seat ourselves, we picked a spot by the window in a area about 6 tables to the left of the entrance as it was quiet. Service was quick and food came out fast fresh, hot and large portions (for me). The server mentioned to us did we see Denali as he pointed out the window, we were so excited to see it clear during our trips in the area. Would certainty go again.
Food was good. Place was overall weird. My wife and I enjoyed stopping here for lunch.
Service is friendly, and not fast. Food is good, but generic. Mostly burgers, sandwiches, and things from a frier. I got a ribeye sandwich, it was good, but very salty. Fries were battered. Three beers on tap, all local. It 's one of the few places open for lunch/dinner in the winter. (The other is the Downtown Talkeetna Denali Brewing location)
