Base Camp Bistro - Talkeetna

The restaurant offers stunning mountain views, although it was cloudy on the day we visited. Our server was exceptionally friendly, and the food was largely delicious. The only critique I have is that the sauce on the salmon might be a bit too strong. However, the Thai curry halibut was fantastic and had a nice level of spiciness.

For families, they offer a kid's menu for children 11 and under.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely, but unfortunately, our server was quite disappointing. There was a noticeable lack of urgency; we waited an entire hour after ordering our drinks to place our dinner order. During that time, we observed several tables that arrived after us being served and cleared before we even received our food. I was really let down by the apparent disregard for our time. We felt ignored, and despite several requests for water, we didn't receive any refills. It took us 2 hours to finally get our two hamburgers and two grilled salmon melts. Just be aware that dinner could take a long time. I’m not impressed and wouldn’t recommend this place. There wasn’t a manager available to assist us during our visit, which added to our frustration. We ended up asking for to-go boxes.

We were seated on the deck with spectacular views of Mt. Denali. The food was delicious and hot. The waiter was a little overwhelmed but was doing a good job handling the load. We were there at a busy time. The kitchen ran out of the spinach artichoke dip, which was a disappointment. They had a good selection of Alaskan brews on tap.

Great breakfast and also had dinner another evening. Great food, service! Waiter/Waitress we had was friendly, answered questions we had about the area. Very enjoyable experience.
