Paris Presidency Restaurant - Talasseri

Had a visit to this place during July 2017. The food is ok. But the time I had opted to have food two times, they served only veg food. The taste is good.

I belong to Thalassery and have heard enough from people wanting to visit the Paris restaurant to have the famed biriyani, to take a very critical stand when it was my turn to take a few friends for lunch. The "Thalassery biriyani" tag is rather common these days in eateries in other cities in Kerala and elsewhere and there must be something in it,I thought. The ambiance of the old traditional house is the first thing that strikes the attention as one walks into the narrow alley that leads to the restaurant. You are led into one of the several rooms - all with an old world charm. The waiter is half expecting you to order the usual fare- Chicken Biriyani. Frankly,I found it just OK and nothing extraordinary,but am ready to concede to the majority opinion. My friends were bowled over and were all praises. Next time I should try something else - the fish biriyani perhaps,another Thalassery dish that many shower praises on. After the heavy lunch, the suleimani - sweet black tea is de rigueur. The location and absence of any parking space is a definite negative but I suggest you drive into the Paris Presidency Hotel a few blocks ahead and they will let you park. Do visit- hundreds cannot go wrong.

Paris Restaurant has its own legacy. Their specialty dish is the biriyani, it is very different from the normal biryani. It is cooked with an aromatic rice which tastes more like a ghee rice with the masala/gravy being separate. It has its own taste and cannot be compared to other biriyanis. What I like about the place is its earthy rustic feel and the smell of the biriyani even after washing my hands.. Along with the biriyani don't forget to ask for the kattan chai (black tea).

Excellent food and service....THE place to have Thalassery Biriyani...some times you feel a lack of staff...
