Contribuiți la feedbackHomie is the only vegetarian restaurant I have found in Taiwan, and because it is where my grandmother lives, the kitchen holds a special place in my heart. Ricky, the owner, was very welcoming when I dined there solo shortly after it opened. I was pleasantly surprised to discover organic ingredients on the menu, and Ricky even recommended a nearby Taiwanese supermarket chain where I could find them. He uses organic soybean sprouts from this market in the Nanjing-style soybean sprouts on the menu, as well as in the perfectly cooked Shanghai steamed gluten dish. I particularly enjoyed the fragrant coconut oil pot stickers, which were filled with delicious salted green vegetables. The Shanghai vegetable rice casserole could have used a touch more sweetness in my opinion, but the date paste roasted cookies were a fantastic end to our lunchtime meal. In light of the pandemic, Homie has spaced out their tables to comply with social distancing guidelines, and customers without a reservation may be turned away. Additionally, guests are asked to wash their hands at the sink outside the restroom before being seated and given a menu.
Homie is the only vegetarian restaurant in Shanghai that I have visited in Taiwan, and it holds a special place in my heart since it is my grandmother's kitchen. When I visited solo shortly after Taichung, Ricky, the owner, was very friendly. I was not familiar with where to find organic products, and he was recommended to me by the Taiwan Fresh Supermarket chain. The restaurant uses organic soybean sprouts in the Nanjing style soybean sprout dish, which was delicious. The Shanghainese steamed gluten was also well done. I particularly enjoyed the fragrant coconut oil pot with salted mustard greens. However, the Shanghai vegetable rice casserole could have had more vegetables. The date paste roasted biscuit was a delightful ending to our lunch. During the pandemic, customers are seated far apart to comply with social distancing regulations, so it is recommended to make a reservation. Customers are also asked to wash their hands at the sink outside the restroom before receiving a menu.
Homie is a unique Shanghainese vegetarian restaurant in Taiwan, which holds a special place in my heart as my grandmother is from Shanghai. Upon moving to Taichung, I visited the restaurant alone and was greeted warmly by the owner, Ricky. He recommended the Taiwan Fresh Supermarket chain for organic produce, which he uses in dishes such as the Nanjing-style soy bean sprouts and Shanghainese steamed gluten. The coconut oil pot stickers filled with salted mustard greens were a favorite of mine, although I felt that the Shanghainese vegetable rice casserole could have had more vegetables. The meal ended on a sweet note with the date paste roasted biscuit. Due to social distancing measures during the pandemic, reservations are encouraged and you will be asked to wash your hands before being seated.
