Contribuiți la feedbackI've been here when it was a full dining room. Back the it was intimate, food fantastic and service perfect.Today, there is a cut down dinner menu with 5 items. The drinks were lovely, when they arrived 35 mins later (and that was with the restaurant at approx 10% capacity).I came here to showcase this great restaurant to someone special and it was so disappointing.:/
I was hoping for a much more authentic Nordic culinary experience at this rather funky underground restaurant, which turned out to be more like a well stocked bar that does some food. And not particularly Nordic food either (unless France is included). The only true Scandinavian dish we had was the gravlax which was nice. We also had some warm goat's brie with white French baguette - something that was served abundantly throughout the meal. The cold cuts such as smoked venison were good, but the chef's special venison sub was just that, a sub-sandwich (in a white French baguette, surprise surprise). I missed the dark rye breads and other specialties us Scandies miss when far away from home. The waiter got our order wrong three fold, however the staff were all very nice and friendly. I definitely wouldn't rush back there for dinner, let alone for an authentic Nordic experience. But it's not a bad place for a drink and a nibble if you're in the area, or need to hide from a nuclear holocaust!
Meaty poor sourced oysters, rubber tyre-like venison, a bizarre lack of napkins, oyster forks and side plates. A thoroughly disappointing meal. Lovely cocktails and staff though, unfortunately didn't make up for the abominable meal.
Fun start to the evening... you go down a dark alley with wolves howling and forest noises, and the place is done out really cool with wolf skins, cow hide rugs and cushions etc. Starters were good (beetroot salad, baked brie, butter prawns), but then we had to wait aaaaages for our mains - over an hour an hour. There was only about 6 tables of us, about a third of the place. Also before our starters arrived, the waitress dropped her stack of plates all over a table whilst clearing a table of 6 – such a mess. And the bathroom was flooded, with buckets collecting drips of water and overflowing! Mains were poor – small cut of venison, and a chewy tough bit of beef with a small side of veg. No idea what they were doing whilst we waited for our mains – you could tell they were panicking about something, and she kept telling us ‘5 more minutes’ about 3 times, whilst going back and giggling with the two guys behind the bar (one could have been the cook... either way it was strange he was tasting plates about to be served by dunking his spoon in whilst it was waiting to go to the tables). They gave us our drinks for free (2 each) to apologise for the poor effort, and with a Dimmi voucher we paid $50 each which was too much for this disappointing dinner.
I wasn't sure what I had gotten myself into when I descended down the stairs only to find a long dimly lit hallway with a flickering light and strange howling... but it all ended well in the end! HahaMy partner and I loved the food, atmosphere and decor. It was surprisingly not too busy for dinner on a Friday night. It only started getting busy by the time we left, so I recommend you head in earlier if you want more of an intimate dining experience.I'm not too keen on the cocktail offering but I'm not fussed about this as the food was amazing.
