When I arrived, I was informed that my booking had been cancelled due to being a no show. After some protesting, a table was eventually found for me. I ordered the lunch special (salmon) which was good, along with rice and miso soup. However, the vegetables were too chunky and uninspiring. The serving dishes for both me and my guest were chipped and cracked, which was unexpected for a restaurant of this caliber. When it came time to pay the bill, I had to wait in line with people buying takeout for several minutes as there was only one cashier for both services.
We tried several tapas dishes, which were generously portioned, reasonably priced, and delicious. We also noticed the hotpot menu, which looked fantastic. We definitely plan to try it next time. The service was excellent.
A conveniently located restaurant in the heart of the city, serving delicious and generous portions of food. It can get quite crowded, so it is recommended to make a reservation in advance.
Great Japanese food! Sea food were fresher than me. The only point is i did not like the oysters because they have added soya sauce inside! No need to sauce it! It is so close with the other resto; we had been intending to go to the other one but missed. Be careful!
If you are considering this place, stop reading and go eat there because it’s wonderful. We absolutely loved Izakaya Masuya. The sushi was some of the best and freshest I’ve had (and I eat a lot of sushi) after two years of living in Australia. We had some incredibly tasty and generously-sized sashimi, and the service was excellent. The larger sushi boat (pictured) was $48, but was a lot for two and came with varieties for sharing, including octopus, calamari, 2 oysters, tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. We shared 3 giant scallops for $15, and amazing pork aburiyaki for $20. We shared one sake tasting of 5 different sakes (pictured) from around Japan for $20, and it was a blast. They were chosen for us by their house sake connoisseur, and the tasting notes were so thorough with detail on where each was made, how they were made, and the differences between other regions. We will be back 100%.
