Super filling, sashimi was decently fresh and price was reasonable for the donburi I got for $12 considering it's the city. First time spending my actual money dollars on Jap food after having been in Japan for 2 months, as I was avoiding it due to the inevitable disappointment I thought would consume me, but the cravings were real and this place wasn't a complete let down. I'd rather spend $12 on donburi up here with a generous serving of the sashimi offcuts than pay $79 for a sashimi boat downstairs (which I did twice #majorragrets) ANY DAY.
My favorite take-away lunch spot near work, huge variety of bentos to choose from and all serious stuff. The line always extends to the street during lunch hours. Also love their sukiyaki soy hotspot with wagyu beef - a wonderful cure for the coldness in winter!
Generous servings of food. We came here for a late lunch but the restaurant was still pretty busy. We were seated promptly inside. Staff were friendly. I ordered soba noodle salad with karaage chicken (it came with an apple juice). My husband ordered teriyaki chicken which came with sashimi, rice and miso soup. We also ordered an extra side of karaage chicken and agadashi tofu. The meat was tender, mostly moist but I did find some pink and dry pieces. I prefer my noodles warm but being a salad, I expected it to be cold. My dish wasn't bad, it was dressed with a tangy, salty and sweet flavours. I think the star dish was the tofu. Besides sushi wow in Newtown, this is the only other Japanese restaurant that makes the tofu so good. So silky smooth and the flavours were spot on. If you have an appetite, definitely give this place a go as servings are generous. The only thing is that after my dish, I did have an aftertaste in my mouth. Also the mocktail mojito tasted weird, wasn't quite sure if they added ginger beer to it.
