Guzman Y Gomez - Sydney

Avoid this place at all costs! Despite informing the staff multiple times that my order was incorrect, it was never fixed and I ended up receiving the wrong meal. The employees were unhelpful and seemed more focused on taking orders rather than getting them right.

I ordered three soft tacos and was disappointed with the cold and soggy mess that arrived. The barramundi taco was particularly revolting, I wouldn't even feed it to a dog, let alone charge customers for it! My expectations for fast food are not high, but this place still managed to disappoint. I will not be returning.

I have not found many other places that come close to the bold and flavorful Mexican dishes at Guzman. While they incorporate some Americanized items like sour cream and fries, the quality control at their franchises could be improved. The Kings Cross location seems to take shortcuts, and the UNSW branch appears to cater to the student clientele by simplifying the menu. On the other hand, the World Square restaurant continues to maintain the food quality and service standards, with a predominantly Latino staff.

Reasonable value and fresh Tex-Mex enjoyed by the kids too. I think the slow-cooked beef is worth paying the extra for.

I visited Guzman Y Gomez twice during my stay in Sydney. I love Nachos, but both times I was left disappointed. The Nachos were incredibly dry, chewy and bar the Pulled Pork topping were completely flavourless. I gave them a second chance and went back...but it was the same. I’ve actually had more enjoyable nachos from Subway... I tried the chipotle fries too, which to be fair were really nice so maybe it’s just the Nachos to avoid.
