They also have a takeaway kiosk with bento boxes for a bit over $10.I had their tempura set and the tempura was nicely done. The bento boxes are around the $22 mark so maybe a bit pricier for everyday lunch but have been coming here for many years and it is consistent. Service and pricing are the main let downs. The place is also due for a bit of a spruce up and can get loud and echoey when busy.
Akaneya Japanese Restaurant. We ate our Dinner at this establishment. We peeked Akaneya restaurant at lunch hours, it was full of office workers enjoying their lunch. At night fall, there was not much traffic in middle of the Sydney Bussiness District.traffic at all, and restaurant was empty when we arrived at this restaurant at 7pm.Japanese speaking server welcomed us, and we got a Genmai-cha(kind of green tea) right away. I ordered Akaneya Special Box Bentou , it was good volume and fresh ingredients were used and delicious. My wife ordered Bara Chirashi Udon, looks yummy and taste good, according to her. Prices were reasonable and services were good. Unfortunately Sydney bossiness district area, at night there was not much people around expect tourist.
Visited for lunch. Waitress was very friendly. Had the sushi sashimi combo. It was ok. That's to say very eatable but at the same time not top grade. Salmon sashimi rather fatty with white fat stripes. Tuna sashimi very pale. The soup that came with the meal didn't have a deep broth flavour so rather bland. Therefore an average. I would eat here again but not go out of my way to go back.
Wanted dinner to go and the boys were looking for sushi. So we walked around the corner to Akaneya for a sushi roll platter, tempura udon, aburi scallop and miso soup. We enjoyed it all. The sushi was made fresh which was great. I would go here again for sushi.
A well run local Japanese restaurant that serves all the classic dishes - teriyaki, tempura, bento boxes, ramen noodles and sushi/ sashimi. Recommend them for lunch but be sure to book (busy place). They also have a quick takeaway sections to grab some simple hot dishes or sushi rolls for lunch. The staff are polite & friendly.
