Carpenters Arms - Swindon

I recently visited this restaurant for a family birthday and had a great evening. The food was delicious and the service was good. The only drawback was that it took a while for the food to be served, but it was worth the wait as it was piping hot and freshly cooked. I have also been here for breakfast several times and it has always been fantastic. The restaurant could use a refurbishment, especially the bathrooms, but we still love it. We are looking forward to coming back later this week for some live music and an overnight stay.

Visited as a party of four for breakfast. All had variations of the full English. Great service and lovely food. Highly recommended

We decided to try this restaurant based on its reputation for good food, but were disappointed by the long wait to be seated despite only four tables being occupied. It took an additional ten minutes to receive a drink and our food took a considerable amount of time to arrive. To make matters worse, a side dish we ordered did not arrive until halfway through our meal.

We booked our office Christmas meal at the Carpenters Arms a month ago based on good reviews of the food. We arrived a few minutes late and were seated promptly. The waitress took our order quickly, mentioning they were busy and there could be a delay. Our starters arrived promptly and were delicious, but unfortunately, that was the only food we received. After waiting for over an hour and a half, we inquired about our meals but received no clear answer. Frustrated with the lack of service, we decided to cancel our order and leave. It seemed like the restaurant was understaffed and not focused on customer care. Another table had a similar experience and left as well. The Carpenters Arms may have good food, but they need to improve their efficiency.

Lovely atmosphere for our first office Xmas shindig in 3 years. Good food plentiful and tasty. All the lunchtime staff welcoming. Would strongly recommend.
