Staying at the Doubletree by Hilton, Swindon, I had a meal in this restaurant, which is within the hotel. I ordered a bottle of sparkling mineral water and Thai Salmon with noodles. The restaurant was freezing it was a cold and grey evening and after I ordered food I had to return to my room to get a jumper. The food arrived and looked okay, but was in some sort of sauce which had separated and was grainy. In addition, Chef had seen fit to put chunks of carrot and diced French beans in the dish, which had not been seasoned. All in all, a lacklustre effort. I ate the salmon, which was okay, and most of the noodles, but the sauce with accompanying Sunday vegetables, was just not appetising. I paid £25.26 for this meal and was somewhat taken aback to see that I had been charged a 12.5% service charge. Since when did this become a ‘thing’ in the U.K.? An expensive and somewhat disappointing experience, which I hope never to repeat.

The staff were very friendly. The restaurant is spacious and well decorated. The food was enjoyable, and the drinks were quite reasonable Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
