The Cellar - Sutter Creek

Great drinks, friendly bartenders, and a fun vibe on a Friday night. We were looking for somewhere lively and open late near our hotel (Hanford House) and this did the trick!

Its the best bar in amador county. That's not saying a lot. Just drink at home and avoid the wierd old ass grabbers, unless that's you jam.

The Cellar is pretty solid for being the only bar in Sutter Creek and the only bar in a three-town radius that isn't a complete dive. I've watched this place change from a more traditional bar with pool tables in the back to what it is now, which is sort of a combination of hipster haunt (with preserves decorating the front wall and a great craft beer selection) and weekend club. Seriously, the DJ and the rap battle were not what I was expecting. I'll also give them props for being the only place that serves food past 10 pm in Sutter Creek, even if it is three different fried offerings of a combination of them together. For the most part, the layout is great, the bartenders cheerful, the patrons an interesting mix of regulars and out-of-towners. Even the random DJ'd mix and unintelligible rap freestyle were good conversation pieces.

Not just a clever name because it's literally in a cellar. Great bar for a quick nightcap and people watching. The pours here are heavy handed which is a plus and the bartenders are super friendly. The layout is great, a few different seating areas with spacious couches and chairs that allow you to sip and watch the game comfortably. The music is ok if you're a lover of Sublime, Nickleback, and the occasional live rap battle. Seriously, this happened and it was awful. So bad in fact I threw up on my sweater, mom's spaghetti. This use to be an amazing upscale bar. It had an amazing atmosphere, great drinks, live music and the place to go out in Sutter Creek. The pictures above are not at all representative of what it is rather what it was. It has turned into an expensive dive bar......I'm not sure what the owners are doing? Terribly disappointing on the changes occurring.
